I entered the world of behavioral therapy over 12 years ago and fell in love with the autistic community and their families.

As a one-on-one behavioral therapist, my first joy was working directly with autistic children. A turning point happened one day when the mom of my young client said jokingly, “My son works so well with you. He listens to you but not me!” I could hear the defeat in her voice.

I knew she meant it as a compliment but I wanted to empower her.

I wanted to say,

“You can teach him anything—you’re his parent!”

I notice special needs parents oftentimes feeling defeated or lost in navigating their new world.

Today, I have a new joy for empowering parents with the skills on how to teach their autistic child new skills and feel confident doing it.
