A Collaborative, Parent-Led Approach to Communication.

Our specialized 8-week program empowers you as your child's primary teacher. You’ll learn how to implement strategies to promote communication at home—creating a more impactful, lasting learning experience apart from traditional ABA models.

Let’s unlock your child’s voice together.

We know that parenting an autistic, non-verbal child can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding effective ways to help him or her communicate. As their mom or dad, it’s easy for you to know what your child wants. You can tell when they’re hungry, tired, or irritable, without them having to say anything. You can anticipate their every need.

But let’s not forget the power of direct communication.

Just because you can “tell” what your child wants in that moment, doesn’t mean other people can. Your child’s teacher won’t know how to read your child as best as you do. Your child’s grandparents might be left wondering what he wants.

Let’s change that.

Giving your child the means to communicate whether that be vocally or through ASL gives your child control and independence.

Unlike traditional models, we empower you—not a therapist—to be your child’s primary teacher, guiding you every step of the way. With our expertise and your dedication, you will see your child’s communication emerge.

So you’ve tried traditional ABA therapy.

You may feel unsatisfied or even frustrated with your current therapy services. Sometimes, the assigned staff is just not a good fit. Maybe they’re unaware of how to play or interact with your child—making it hard to form a good connection. As a parent, you’re left feeling disconnected from the progress you hoped to see.

Or maybe you had a great therapist but they made a transition and now they’re no longer seeing your child.

The unfortunate truth is that there is high turnover in the field of ABA. Companies providing ABA services make their best efforts to promote retention but at the end of the day, it’s not always possible to keep the same 1-to-1 therapist forever.

Parents can be left feeling like there is no other therapeutic option for them and their child, but there is.

The Communication Breakthrough

Welcome to…

Mexican family with autistic son

As a parent, you can anticipate your child's needs without them saying a word, but providing them with the ability to communicate is a powerful tool.

Our live, online program educates parents how to teach their autistic child to request their basic wants and needs using, “More” and “All done.”

Through simple, step-by-step lessons, caregivers—no matter their experience—will gain the confidence to directly teach their non-verbal child. No one-to-one therapist necessary.

After an initial skills assessment, a communication method will be selected for your child (ASL or vocalizations) and your instructor will guide you with a new lesson each week.

This program is perfect for parents who:

  • Are on a waitlist for ABA/speech services and want to start teaching now

  • Are already receiving ABA/speech and are ready to take the lead role in their child’s learning

  • Want to teach their child independently, outside traditional services

Our initial launch of The Communication Breakthrough is set to begin May 2025—featuring an exclusive parent cohort of only 10 spots available.

Our Process

  • Registration

    Intake & consent forms

Parent reviews and signs intake documentation including consent forms and a brief assessment to identify your child’s current skill levels.

  • Week 1

    1:1 Phone call

Parent and clinical instructor hold a 30-min phone call to review signed intake forms, review expectations, and discuss the assessment results together.

  • Week 2

    Class lesson: Teaching “More”

Parent attends the first live, online class (1.5 hrs) among a cohort of 10-12 other dedicated parents. Your clinical instructor will provide step-by-step, expert guidance to help you confidently begin teaching your child their first request, "More" using ASL or vocalization (the exact word varies).

  • Week 3

    Class lesson: Prompt fading

This week’s lesson focuses on promoting your child’s independence. Parents will learn how to implement prompt fading by gradually reducing support, allowing your child demonstrate the skill on their own. Parents continue to practice throughout the week.

  • Week 4

Class lesson: Troubleshooting & support A

Learning a new skill is hard and comes with barriers to progress. During week 4, we’ll troubleshoot through barriers that have come up when practicing our first lesson (teaching “more”) within the online class.

  • Week 5

    Class lesson: Generalization and maintenance

Parents will learn how to generalize their child’s new skill across different routines, confidently promoting communication during bath time, play time, dressing, and outings. This practice promotes long-lasting skills that maintain over time.

  • Week 6

    Class lesson: Teaching “All done”

Building on your newly developed skill set, in week 6 you’ll learn how to teach your child their second request, “All done” using ASL or vocalization (the exact word varies).

  • Week 7

Class lesson: Troubleshooting & support B

New barriers will arise as parents continue to practice their new skill set (teaching “all done”). During our final class lesson, we'll continue to tackle obstacles together, providing support as you progress.

  • Week 8

    1:1 Formal check-out phone call

Parent and clinical instructor will have a 30-minute phone call to address any questions, formally check out from the program, and discuss the family’s successes. Parents will also share how the skills learned have been meaningful and useful in real-life situations. At Celeste Crystal, we want to ensure you and your child have gained valuable and practical skills that positively impact your everyday life.

  • Graduation

    Community & cohort support

Parents will have the opportunity to join an exclusive Facebook group where they can continue to connect and share personal wins with the other parents who have also graduated from the program. Your voluntary participation comes with lifelong access to the private group.

 FAQs

  • Joining the Class:

You’ll click the Google Meet link sent to your email to enter the session. Your clinical instructor will begin each class by welcoming you into the meeting.

    During the Class:

You'll learn step-by-step strategies for teaching your child their first request, guided by a skilled clinician through an interactive presentation. Each session ends with dedicated time for caregiver questions, with real-time support and answers provided.

    After the Class:

At the end of each session, caregivers will receive homework to reinforce the skills learned. Practicing these strategies consistently throughout the week is crucial to the success of the program and key to seeing real progress.

  • Two scheduling options are available: Fridays at 9:00-10:30 am PST or Wednesdays at 6:00-7:30 PM PST.

TIP: Don't let scheduling keep you from your child’s success you're dreaming of. Every caregiver enrolled is granted one make-up phone call where you have the opportunity to review any lesson material you missed.

  • The lessons are carefully structured in a specific sequence, with each one designed to build upon the previous. Parents are highly encouraged to attend each lesson as we go through the course for optimal results, however, we know that life happens.

Members of the course are allotted one make-up lesson, in the form of a 1:1 phone call (30 mins) with the clinical instructor to review missed lesson material. (Note: Make-ups must be scheduled proactively with the instructor and must take place before the following Friday class).

Due to HIPAA privacy policies, recordings will not be an option at this time.

  • Results depend on your child's unique skill level and learning pace (beyond your control), as well as the daily practice you commit to (within your control).

After each Friday's lesson, parents will consistently practice the communication skills learned, throughout the week. Parent practice plays a crucial role in the progress that you will see.

  • Your involvement is the key to your child’s success. Progress doesn’t come from a quick fix—it comes from consistent, intentional practice. The more you engage with your child using these strategies, the more progress you’ll see.

You don’t need large blocks of time—each practice moment can take as little as one minute. Aim for at least 10 meaningful practice opportunities a day. The more you put in, the more your child gains—and you’re the most powerful part of that progress.

  • The Communication Breakthrough is parent-led. You are the driving force of teaching your child new skills, not a therapist.

Traditional ABA therapy typically involves a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) setting goals for your child, while an entry-level instructor works to implement them. However, the truth is, no one understands your child better than you. Many parents express concerns about the quality of care, saying things like, "They don't know how to engage with my child" or "They lack experience."

At Celeste Crystal, we believe parents are the most effective teachers. Therapists may only be with your child for a few hours, but you are there every day, guiding and supporting them 24/7.

  • Our model at Celeste Crystal works perfectly in supplement to traditional ABA therapy. When provided by you, our team will review your current ABA report to promote continuity of care.

The goal is that you’ll walk away with new skills that you haven’t learned from your current ABA team, such as how to teach your child to communicate.

  • That’s totally okay! Our main approach is to teach skills in brief intervals (1-5 minutes) spread throughout the day. There's no need for your child to sit at a table for long periods when practicing these skills with you.

We focus on teaching in more natural settings, like on the floor or in a high chair, rather than using formal, structured teaching methods.
